The dread around root canals belongs to the past. With modern rotary instruments and proper anaesthesia, an RCT today feels much like having a filling — and it saves a tooth that would otherwise be lost.
When you need one
Deep decay, a cracked tooth or a long-standing infection can reach the nerve inside your tooth, causing throbbing pain, sensitivity to hot and cold, or swelling. A root canal cleans out that infected tissue and seals the tooth.
Single-sitting where possible
Many root canals can be completed in one visit. We usually recommend a crown afterwards to protect the treated tooth for the long term.
